Bible School, Retreats, Summer Camps or Mission Trips. Maybe you went to Sunday School or Church because of your Parents or a friend. Now that you are a YA, you might have slipped back a bit. Bible Verses that Help in Times of Trial

Throughout our life, there will be times when we need spiritual guidance for our human needs. These needs may be times when we are tempted by Satan, are afraid of what lies ahead, sorrowful for the loss of a loved one or a multitude of other human emotions. For these times, the following verses have been provided. They are from the New International Version (NIV).  For other Versions, or Topical Index of the Bible, check out BibleGateway online.

When We're Lonley
Hebrews 13:5,6
5 Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you."  6 So we say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?"

When you're Afraid

Psalm 34:4
I sought the LORD, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.
Matthew 10:28
Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.
II Timothy 1:7
For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.
Hebrews 13:5,6
5 Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you."
6 So we say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?"

When You're Anxious

Matthew 6:19-34
19 Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.  20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
22 The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light.  23 But if
your eyes are bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!  24 No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.  25 Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?  26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?  27 Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life [b]?
28 And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin.
29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.  30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?  31 So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.  33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.  34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
Philipians 4:6
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
I Peter 5:6,7
6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. 7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

Sickness or Pain

Matthew 26:39
Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, "My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will."
Roman 5:3-5
3 Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance;
4 perseverance, character; and character, hope.  5 And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.
II Corinthians 12:9,10
9 But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is
made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly
about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me.  10 That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
I Peter 4:12,13,19
12 Dear friends, do not be surprised at the painful trial you are suffering, as though something strange were happening to you.  13 But rejoice that you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed.  19 So then, those who suffer according to God's will should commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good.

When Friends Fail

Psalm 41:9-13
9 Even my close friend, whom I trusted, he who shared my bread, has lifted up his heel against me.  10 But you, O LORD, have mercy on me; raise me up, that I may repay them.  11 I know that you are pleased with me, for my enemy does not triumph over me.  12 In my integrity you uphold me and set me in your presence forever.  13 Praise be to the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Amen and Amen.
Luke 17:3,4
3 So watch yourselves. "If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him.  4 If he sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times comes back to you and says, 'I repent,' forgive him."
Romans 12:14,17-21
14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.  17 Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody.  18 If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.  19 Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: "It is mine to avenge; I will repay," says the Lord.  20 On the contrary: "If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head."  21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
II Timothy 4:16-18
16 At my first defense, no one came to my support, but everyone deserted me. May it not be held against them.  17 But the Lord stood at my side and gave me strength, so that through me the message might be fully proclaimed and all the Gentiles might hear it. And I was delivered from the lion's mouth.  18 The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and will bring me safely to his heavenly kingdom. To him be glory for ever and ever. Amen
